Terminology Seminar - Dublin 8-9 December 2009

The NPLD hosted a Seminar on Terminology in Dublin on 8-9 December 2009. The Seminar's main aim was to bring together partners working in this specialised field to share best practice as well as explore new opportunities for future collaboration. It was very clear that much could be learnt from each other and that coming together as a group had been of value in itself. The
event was chaired by Deaglan O'Briain, Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

The following fields were highlighted as areas for potential collaborative work:

* Sharing and development of IT solutions for managing and publishing terminology on-line;

* Development of a training programme for terminology specialists to widen the exchange of experience to include people working in the field of terminology;

* Development of best practice guidelines and standardisation of terminology projects.
