NPLD's second General Assembly meeting will be held in Barcelona on 16-17 June, and hosted by Linguamon - Casa de les llengues.  The main aim of the General Assembly is to reflect upon the Network's developments over the previous year in its four main fields of work: advocacy, communication, project and information sharing, and to define the NPLD's priorities for the forthcoming year.

General Assembly members will be updated on the policy developments in the field of constitutional, regional, and smaller-state languages, and NPLD’s actions, which includes;

  1. Contribution to the Committee of Regions’ opinion on the 2008 Communication on “Multilingualism: an asset for Europe and a shared commitment”;
  2. Contribution and response to the European Commission’s consultation on the Communication on Multilingualism;
  3. Participation in the meeting of the European Parliament intergroup for traditional national minorities, constitutional regions and regional languages (Sardinia, October 2008);
  4. Successful contribution to the European Parliament’s final resolution on the Communication on Multilingualism.
  5. Presence at events e.g. the Council of Europe’s conference on the Charter on Regional and Minority Languages organised in Bilbao in April.

NPLD members will also consider the impact of the new political landscape following the European elections during the meeting, and whilst drawing up its priorities.

Members will also be presented with updates on all of the Netowrk's projects: Youth, Media, ICT, Pre school and Research.

It will also offer the opportunity to welcome the new members to the Network.
