The EU institutions, urged to ensure their commitment to linguistic diversity

On the occasion of the European Day of Languages held on 26 September, a joint Declaration by the Council of Europe (CoE) and the NPLD is released to raise awarness on the significance of cultural and linguistic diversity for Europe.

The Declaration reaffirms the commitment of the two organisations to keep on working on the promotion of multilingualism and, at the same time, it urges the European Union institutions ‘to ensure that all languages spoken across Europe are seen as common assets which need to be supported, promoted and protected’.
